Dear members,
Aim of this group is not only to get an identification of an unidentified
species, but also to disseminate knowledge of Indian Flora, assimilating
this knowledge, creating more awareness about it etc. I am receiving
feedback from some lay members that posts are becoming too technical/
Botanical & that is my personal experience also. As you all know we have lot
of members who hardly have any knowledge about Flora. I earlier used to make
post more simplified by providing links (once a post is identified or in
case an identified post) with details, common names, interesting extracts
(from Wikipedia where ever available) or copy-pasting from Indiantreepix
Database (where ever available) etc. But unable to do so now due to my
business in keeping "indiantreepix' Database updated & other "indiantreepix'
work. These things can be done by even a laymen, by Google searching on Bot.
names, reading about the species from there & then putting up links/
extracts in reply to a mail. It is generally a great learning experience for
anybody doing this job including an expert.
*If somebody out of us, can continue this job, it will be wonderful.
