Satishji's glowing orchids reminds me of this mysterious--(to me ) plant i
had seen years back at Nagar
in Himachal pradesh.I had sent this mail last year in August only!

Now i have come to know its name "Nisha" in local language and Evening
Primrose as such.
But this is incomplete without latin name Family etc. I am sure there will
be some response this time!

We were watching the sunset from the garden of the palace hotel of Nagar. And
then as we started to
go out for a walk.a strange miracle happened ---the buds from the hedge near
the wall
started blossoming one by one before our eyes just like the National
geographic documentary!
In less than ten minutes the whole hedge was full of these golden yellow
flowers.We were stunned & awed !
It seems they open up as soon as the sun sets.Unfortunately at that time i
was not that interested in noticing the details of the
flower-petals,leaves-Nothing! and i regret it to this day.
My neice told me she had seen these flowers in Gangotri.Late shri
Navneetbhai Parekh (trekker and nature
lover )of Khali Estates near Almora also has mentioned written about it .I
'll have to search it out.
But one thing is sure that they grow in the colder climate and at about at
3000m height.
Many of you might have seen it.Can you throw light?
Now the ball is in your court Gargji
Regards,
Bindu
