Before I sent photographs to the Group I had tentatively identified the tree as
Sapindus laurifolius from Brandis Indian trees (which we now know is synonym
of S. trifoliatus Linn.; and S. emarginatus Vahl included by Brandis under this
is independant species). I received two responses from the group Lepisanthes
tetraphylla from Satish Pardesi ji and Sapindus emarginatus from Devendra
Bhardwaj ji. I went for former because of the statement in Brandis that flowers
occur on old wood, very distinctive in my tree.
After fresh discussion on this tree and having seen photograph of
Lepisanthes tetraphylla sent by Neil Soares today, we may shift focus back on
Sapindus emarginatus. The tree is in vegetative condition now. I will have
critical relook on whatever I can observe and report back to the Group within
few days

Thanks to all for critical reexamination
