While searching more on somatic mutations in Hibisci I came across this interesting article: http://www.internationalhibiscussociety.org/HI17_file/hiv1n171-2.htm It talks a lot more on the color mutations and also includes an interesting history of the plant beginning with Linneaus. regards, rakesh On Fri, Sep 4, 2009 at 12:53 AM, Devipriya v <[email protected]>wrote: > > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > From: Devipriya v <[email protected]> > Date: 2009/9/4 > Subject: Re: [indiantreepix:17561] Re: Fwd: [indiantreepix:16611] Hibiscus > sp for ID 230809GS3 > To: Yazdy Palia <[email protected]> > > > > Sir, > > Both are Hibiscus rosa-sinensis accessions - white one is var. > *albus* (Tropica) and the pink one is var. *Albo Lacinatus’*(International > Hibiscus Society-IHS). > But many a time the white flowered cultivar shows pink flowers in some > branches, probably due to somatic mutations. > > devipriya > > > 2009/9/3 Yazdy Palia <[email protected]> > > >> Hello friends, >> Both are Hibiscus.
