Hi,

If this is a shrub of 3-4 m high, with flowers in racemes and fruits of
about 1 cm across, then it is most probably Solanum anguivi (= S. indicum,
S. violaceum; a common species in bangalore too).

S. anguivi is traded as 'Katheli-Badhi' and known as Brhati / Simhi in
Sanskrit.

regards

vijayasankar
