Many Thanks Shrikant ji for sharing this habitat of a tree species. These Salix trees in large number makes one really happy. The lone tree of *Salix tetrasperma *on the banks of river Mutha is struggling for survival due to the so called developments of the city but there is a hope as many such trees still survive some 100km from Pune city as shown through this picture which makes it special. Salix is a genus of cold and temperate regions but still Maharashtra has 2 species mentioned in BSI Flora *S.tetrasperma* and *S. ichnostachya*. Have you ever come across the latter one?
