Sir, It is possible that this plant may well be *B. blakeana*.
I remember our discussion in my earlier upload of another *Bauhinia* tree - https://groups.google.com/d/topic/indiantreepix/WUz7SIl0pt0/discussion which was related to yet another post at - https://groups.google.com/d/topic/indiantreepix/2fer1UHmLTI/discussion. While i was taking pictures of this particular tree i checked for pods and there wasn't any. But, at the same time i recalled that last year i had a very similar experience, initially there was no pods and later the tree was full of pods. I used the KEY (for *B. variegata* L), *"flowers appearing generally before leaves"* or *"flowers 10-12 cm across, after leaves fall"*, to identify this tree. The KEY was prepared by you in - - https://groups.google.com/d/topic/indiantreepix/XIp9z4j4Bwc/discussion - https://groups.google.com/d/topic/indiantreepix/GIsglBYnGCc/discussion However, i shot this plant in Chandannagar and will check again when i go there in near future.
