This tree is known as ചോരപ്പാതിരി (Chorapathiri), ചോരപ്പത്രി (Chorapathri)
> or ചോരപ്പയിന് (Chorapayin) in Malayalam.

'ചോര' (Chora) in Malayalam means blood. So the name could be
referring to the red sap as well as the red aril of the tree.
