Sir,

Life science text books of Class-VII under our Secondary board give some
account of various medicinal plants. According to those books VASAKA is
used to treat cold-n-cough.
The same books also point to presence of alkaloids like
vasicine<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justicia_adhatoda#Pharmacology>
.
I have seen several
formulations<http://store.himalayahealthcare.com/healthcare/vasaka.htm>with
labels stating to contain VASAKA, JASTI-MADHU etc.
People here takes leaf-extract after boiling those leaves and with a
spoonful of honey.
