Re-posting the pictures as there seems to have been some issue earlier
Cochlospermum vitifolium (Bixaceae): Other names: buttercup tree, silk cotton tree, Size: was a small-medium sized tree. Maybe 20ft. Naturally also grows to a small height only. Found this in a nursery near my home in Bangalore. Very similar to Cochlospermum religiosum (yellow silk cotton tree), but the flower has lot more petals (can say a "double version") Gardener kept the flower near his deity's feet. <https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-vyyVgScurLE/UVov_Xhd-WI/AAAAAAAAGy0/9lGx4OuR1P0/s1600/cochlospermum_vittata_flower.jpg> The tree is almost leafless when in flower. <https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vAR_4lpIfpI/UVowUIbIvXI/AAAAAAAAGzE/WAOjRfHHztU/s1600/cochlospermum_vittata_hflowers1.jpg> Close-up pics of the leaves which were at the lower level. The top was totally leaf-less. <https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-xp4x3yC6p28/UVowpIufZjI/AAAAAAAAGzM/sQ1Nh8lxmyE/s1600/cochlospermum_vittata_leaves.jpg> On Monday, December 24, 2012 2:33:36 PM UTC+5:30, Satish wrote: > > Cochlospermum vitifolium (Bixaceae): Other names: buttercup tree, silk > cotton tree, > > Size: was a small-medium sized tree.
