Thanks Chitra ji for the inauguaration. It is very important for us to know that the major food crops belong to Poaceae. Kindly throw light on other cultivated rice species and its taxonomy. For. eg, difference between the awned basmati rice, red and black grained rice, etc. Does the modern taxonomists consider O.glaberrima, O.nivara, etc. as species different from O.sativa? And would also like to know about the taxonomic status of introduced species like O.breviligulata, O.brachyantha, O.grandiglumis, O.latifolia, O.australiensis and the multigrained rice O.plena. Also would like to know more about O.jeyporensis. Regads... Manoj Chandran.
