Hello Shobha ji, Most of the local trees found in Maharashtra are deciduous to adapt to the dry winter and early summer season. Evergreen trees need constant supply of water. In dry months when transpiration is more and water availability is less, the trees shed leaves and go dormant to retain moisture. The evergreen varities are - Alstonia (Saptaparni), Mast Tree (Ashoka), Sita Ashok (Saraca indica), Putranjiva roxberghii, Mango.
Pongamia, Albizzia, Bauhinia, Erythrina, Casia fistula, Dalbargia are all deciduous and shed leaves in Dec and reappear in April.
