I came to know two interesting facts while reading about Asters. NO NATIVE OR NATURAL SPECIES OF ASTER EXISTS IN MAHARASHTRA STATE AS PER BSI MAH. BOOK. Some cultivated species are mentioned in the book though. Aster genus is grouped under ray floret colour as purple or white so Aster flower head can not be yellow it is either purple or white or in between.(Disc florets can be of diff. colours including yellow) About the above plant...... Robust shaggy haired perennial with large solitary flower-heads 5-7cm across, distinguished by its many very long narrow somewhat reflexed lilac ray florets. Disc florets at first blackish then orange.
