Garg Sir,

I agree that the pictures in this post looks very very similar to yours. In
fact i should have left the ID as *Coprinus* (or *Coprinellus*) sp. only.

Not only the above, the pictures in following sites also seem to suggest
this as *C. disseminatus* -

   -

http://www.messiah.edu/Oakes/fungi_on_wood/gilled%20fungi/species%20pages/Coprinellus%20disseminatus.htm
   - http://www.mushroomexpert.com/coprinellus_disseminatus.html

On the other hand *C. micaceus* in the above three sites are -

   -

http://www.messiah.edu/Oakes/fungi_on_wood/gilled%20fungi/species%20pages/Coprinellus%20micaceus.htm
   - http://www.mushroomexpert.com/coprinellus_micaceus.html

Now, please note the stipe length in all sites above -

   1. up to 4 cm = *C. disseminatus*
   2. u to 8 (8.5) cm = *C. micaceus*

The picture, P1040987.jpg has more than 4 cm stipe. Perhaps the community
has members with longer stipes.

Please also note that in my another post from the same dead and rotten
stump, at
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!starred/indiantreepix/OKDicob8DqQ,
the mushroom has stipe more thick than *C. disseminatus*.

So, i think this is *C. micaceus*.

Thank you,

Regards,

surajit
