Please support the work we do to protect the environment and save the bees by making an urgent donation today. Millions of bees in the US are dropping dead. And if something isn’t done soon, we could be witnessing a global food catastrophe. Scientists have linked a powerful class of pesticides called “neonics” to the increase in bee die-offs. The problem has gotten so bad that last winter alone 31% of hives in the US collapsed. Bees are responsible for pollinating many of the fruits and vegetables that are staples in our diet. Imagine a world without apples, avocados, and almonds. That’s what will happen if we don’t ban these pesticides and save the bees. Fortunately, there’s hope. Greenpeace has launched a global campaign to save our bees. Our three-step plan is simple and it’s already working in places like Europe: Ban the seven most dangerous pesticides Protect pollinator health by preserving wild habitat Restore ecological agriculture. A bill was just introduced in Congress that would impose a ban on neonics until a scientific review and field studies prove no harm will come to bee populations from their use. Now is our chance to save the bees in the US. But we need your support. Make an urgent donation today to support our work protecting the environment and help us create the level of public pressure needed to convince Congress to pass the critical Save America’s Pollinators Act. The companies that make these pesticides, Bayer and Syngenta, have spent millions lobbying politicians to make sure this bill never sees the light of day. The only chance it has is if we create widespread public support. Just look at Europe. Greenpeace supporters there recently put massive public pressure on lawmakers to ban these pesticides and won. Now the European Union has imposed the world's first region wide ban on bee-killing pesticides. With your generous financial support we know our campaign to save the bees here in the US can achieve the same results. Make a gift today and support our work to protect the environment. The only way to override the corporate lobbyist’s dirty money is to use our collective voice. So far, together we have sent over 100,000 messages to the US government urging it to save the bees by banning these pesticides. This is a good start, but much more needs to be done in order to get the attention of our lawmakers. Once we get a ban on these dangerous bee killing pesticides, we need to protect their habitat so the population can rebound. We plan to do this by promoting ecological, organic farming around the world. Ecological farming resists insect damage by avoiding large monocrops and preserving ecosystem diversity thus removing the need for dangerous pesticides and chemical fertilizers. A win for the bees here in the US is possible, but for that to happen our global plan to save the bees must succeed. With your generous financial contribution, we will be able to take this campaign to the next level.
