Refering to the original pix, I have seen similar ferns  mainly on Mango trees,
Mangifera indica, in Kolkata and all along on way to Kalyani, about 70 kms
north of Kolkata. The plants had belt/strap-like leaves that were about 6o cm
long and 5 cm wide in older plants. They were mostly growing on moss covered
thick branches. I believe they are known as Hart's-tongue Fern,  Asplenium
scolopendrium (syn. Phyllitis scolopendrium, ), but not sure of ID.  Asplenium
is a genus of about 700 species of ferns. Here's a link :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asplenium.

Also take this opportunity of conveying BEST WISHES FOR DIWALI to all members,
