Dear Rashida ji & all,
As per the rules of ICBN (International Code of Botanical Nomenclature), the
family names should end with *a**ceae*. However, the following eight
families are exceptions and their old names can ALSO be used (only for these
8) because of their popularity and very long usage. You can use either
Labiatae or Lamiaceae, both are correct. The exceptions are:

Labiatae / Lamiaceae
Cruciferae / Brassicaceae
Graminae / Poaceae
Leguminosae / Papilionaceae / Fabaceae
Guttiferae / Clusiaceae
Umbelliferae / Apiaceae
Compositae / Asteraceae
Palmae / Arecaceae
