After studying several posts similar to this I strongly believe this to be *
Phylocephalum* *scabridum*.
a)Regarding my first doubt.
*Crassocephalum *is ruled out as it has yellow heads.
*Phylocephalum and Adenoon* both have pink/purple heads. Leaves alternate.
heads ebracteolate.
Pappus is absent in Adenoon whereas it is present; short fugaceous(* * *
Botany* Withering or dropping off early.) and achenes are ribbed in *
Phyllocephalum*.
BSI Mah flora mentions 4 species of *Phyllocephalum*. In one of the
pictures I can see the underside of leaf as whitish so P. hookeri is ruled
out.
The outer involucral bracts are not cordate at base:
1)pappus hairs reddish: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . *P. tenue*
2)pappus hairs white or yellowish ... ... ... ... ... *P. scabridum*
All features can't be seen here. But this is likely to be *P. scabridum.*
