Thanks Garg ji for the research and links. The species DOES occur in India and *Sida schimperiana* is a well-established name and has been used in several Indian Floras including and not limited to:
Fl. Brit. India 1: 322. 1874; Fl. Pres. Madras 1: 90(64). 1915; Fl. Tamil Nadu 1: 37. 1983; Fl. Tamilnadu Carnatic 1: 131.1983; Fl. India 3: 292. 1993. Synonyms of this species, as per the above literature, are: Sida cuneifolia Roxb., Riedleia truncata W. & A. Dictyocarpus truncatus Wight Melochia truncata Hermannia alnifolia Wall. While this name is not resolved and recognized by TPL and GRIN, respectively, Tropicos <http://tropicos.org/Image/100173297> and eol<http://eol.org/pages/5411067/overview>have accepted this name. I don't currently have access to the 1996 monograph mentioned by you.
