Orchidaceae the name of family starts with an error as this name described by Jussieu in 1789 has been conserved against Orchidaceae described by Adanson that was described earlier in 1763. Another error is the Type of family which is Orchis latifolia L. but it is a rejected name now.
The name itself is originated from Orchis meaning TESTICLES !!!
