Respected Sir There are two Anoectochilus setaceus. 1. Anoectochilus setaceus Blume, Bijdr.: 412 (1825). 2. Anoectochilus setaceus Lindl., Edwards's Bot. Reg. 23: t. 2010 (1837), nom. illeg.
First one based on priority of publication of ICN is accepted and hence second name is rejected. Second name was found to be totally different plant and matched with the existing Chrysobaphus roxburghii Wall. which in turn is basionym of Anoectochilus roxburghii (Wall.) Lindl. So, YES it is ok to say that Anoectochilus setaceus Lindl. is synonym of Anoectochilus roxburghii (Wall.) Lindl., but Anoectochilus setaceus Blume is a distinct species. Hope this is understandable.
