I had thrown the first hint, based largely on general habit and stinging hairs. After critical examination of illustrations and pictures, I also agree with Santosh ji, Dinesh ji, it is Lapportea interrupta.

You are correct about the fact that the plant is very common in Kerala. In fact there are two almost identical plant in the wilds of Kerala. One of them induces a rash whereas the other one is totally harmless. Both the plants appear very similar. Even the flowers are almost identical. I am no botanist.
