Excellent pic for id. It very clearly shows the typical ocreae which
are useful to id Polygonum (in the previous sense).
About the name:
As per Maharashtra Dicot II (BSI)
Persicaria auriculata (Meissn.) Dixit, Datta & Roy is current name
Polygonum auriculatum Meissn. is basionym
Polygonum chinense L. var. ovalifolium Meissn. (used by Cooke) is a synonym
Persicaria chinensis (L.) H. Gros var. ovalifolia (Meissn.) Hara   is
also a synonym (used in Flora of East. Himalaya)
