According to your references it does seem to be different. I was going by Dr Almeida's Fl of Mah in which Maytenus heyneana (Roth) has M. rothiana listed as a synonym. The plant described is what I have always known as M. rothiana, common in Maharashtra. Then I looked it up and assumed it must be the same plant. In BSI fl of Mah there is no Maytenus heyneana. The plant in question was photographed in Maharashtra. regards Radha
