Ritesh Ji, I have no explanation for darker patches/blotches. It seems to me that in the pictures in this thread there are two plants - one with bigger broader leaf, with serrate or crenate margin and the other plant is the *Persicaria* in question. In this first pic if you see at the bottom middle you will see the perfect leaf of *P. viscosa* (leaf blade ovate-lanceolate or elliptical-lanceolate FoC <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200006739>, lanceolate acute or acuminate FBI).
