When you bring a plant with bud and then change its soil condition abruptly, then it is likely that the buds wont sprout. Moreover this was not the right season to do it. It should have been kept like that and repotting could have been done after winter or during rainy season. This is a heat loving plant, but needs constant watering. Regards Pankaj
