Taxodium it seems has many variants, not all listed,
even the chinese ones have variations

and the fossilized specimen superficially look like the modern fronds but I
remember a talk at smithsonian natural history about the vast variation
even in fossilized botanical specimen...  and they study  a subject for
years and years on multitudes of records and specimen... and live objects.

so take home message is regional variation at a static point in time and in
time across the eons
