Thanks Jui ji, Surajit ji and Garg ji for the feedback... To answer Jui ji's question, this was not from a drier part but was taken by the roadside between the Kas plateau and Kas Lake.
Surajit ji's suggestion looks more plausible, my pics match some of the L. stelligera pics present in the efi database (at a stage when the flowers have fallen off and only the calyx remains).
