I was indeed waiting for this post from you Muthu. Because, I too collected this species (for the first time) from the same locality (Sathyamangalam forest, TN) and identified as *Vernonia cinerascens* (Asteraceae). There is an illustration of this species in BSI's Flora of India vol. 13, pg 366.
