The leaf looks like Ilex cornuta <http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ldplants/ilcor3.htm> and the stem may be of Euphorbia milii <http://cdn2.arkive.org/media/A9/A9670054-D62D-43A8-9B15-03E4B6C4BD8B/Presentation.Large/Crown-of-thorns-stem.jpg>. A picture of leaf can help confirm the id.
