Dear friends,

You may already know about MigrantWatch (www.migrantwatch.in), a
participatory project in which volunteers from across India contribute
information on bird migration.

We plan to soon launch a sister project, SeasonWatch, which will
monitor plant phenology (the timing of seasonal events) across India.
We ask for your help in publicising it, and in searching for a project
manager.

Here is a short description of the project

And an advertisement for a person to help run it

In brief, SeasonWatch:
a. monitors the timing of flowering, fruiting and leaf-flush of plants
(primarily trees) all over India
b. enlists the participation of citizen-volunteers who register and
monitor individual trees
c. provides open access to all data collected, as well as tools to
analyse and visualise the data

We also have a strong educational emphasis, including involving
schools and school children in this participatory project.

Could you circulate this message to anyone else who you think it might
interest? If you would be interested in being more closely involved,
as a phenology-watcher, in coordinating a local chapter, or in any
other way, could you please email us at citizenscience(at)ncbs.res.in
so that we can keep you informed about progress and the launch date?

With the very best of wishes for a wonderful and fulfilling New Year!
(And our apologies if you receive this message from multiple sources.)
