Both The Plant List and Revision of Indian Cucurbitaceae consider it a
synonym of C. melo, and since it is a wild species with very short hairs on
ovary, it is reasonable to include under subsp. agrestis var. agrestis. The
hairs on ovary and not stem are significant in distinction.
