Hello - i saw this response now. It is not that tree for sure. I went back over the weekend and confirmed the classic thorn on the bark for Bombax Malabarica and the red flowers quite distinct on it's bare branch.
BTW interestingly enough, I did come across a Firmiana Colorata growing on the rock face on my trek down - and posted it for identification to the group yesterday.
