Both Barleria montana and B. prattensis resemble in their general morphology hence may be confusing. Calyx features seem to be variable so cannot be wholly relied on. But the seed character is distinct enough to distinguish the two species. According to Shendage & Yadav (2010, Revision of genus Barleria in India):
