Looks to be a Corymbia or Eucalyptus species, possibly C. maculata or C. 
torelliana. This is a large, complex group of trees. Photos of form, bark and 
capsules would be very helpful if possible. Foliage is often aromatic; you 
might crush a leaf for confirmation as well.

Hi,
Hi,
I photographed these in Chennai (Gandhi Nagar, 3rd Main Road) this
evening. The leaves belonged to a tree that was quite tall (resembling
a Mast tree (Polyalthea longifolia) but drooping bright green leaves.
A lady living in the house behind the tree said that the fruits gave
out a very sticky liquid and they called it the gum tree.
