Possibly some sort of Ligustrum species (Oleaceae)? Opposite leaves, terminal 
infloresence are typical of the genus.

Hi members, 
Sorry for the occasional intervals. I was in the middle of forests for a quite 
few days, so could not interact properly.

And kindly help to id the common tree found at an elevation of 950 msl in 
Satyamangalam forests on 21 Jan 2010.
For me this appears to belong to Meliaceae.
