Some how I missed this discussion.
Yes this species is reported from Western and Eastern Ghats both. Orissa is 
exclusive distribution. But this species is still supposed to be endemic to 
Indi and not found outside as per my knowledge.
Gender issues in names are as discussed by Gurcharan sir. Gender issue in 
botanical names are very technical so dont go into details. Just remember 
that it is "crispa" and this also emplies that all other species of this 
genus will end with an "a".
