Thank you Chris. It is entirely possible! Now that you point this out, I think 
it is very likely that I looked at a plantago growing in the same thicket and 
mistook the leaves for those of the other plant. In my fatigue, I did not think 
straight and somehow convinced myself. 

Even though the name Trigonotis rotundifolia is unresolved, FOI

the Alpine Garden Society 
<http://encyclopaedia.alpinegardensociety.net/plants/Trigonotis/rotundifolia> 
and KEW

 have kept this name.

I hope to visit the area soon and will search for the same plant to see if 
there are nutlets etc.
