Thanks, Vijayasankar for final confirmation. It's quite common in Kolkata & called 'Domur' in Bengali & I think its fruits/ figs used as a vegetable. Being such very old trees (be more than 40 years) in Tollygunge Golf Club, Kolkata, these have grown into big trees (which are generally not seen otherwise) but its appearance etc. from below remains the same.
