Dear Gargji,
Am very familiar with this tree, so I could say this is precisely *Diospyros
malabarica* (Desr.) Kostel.
This is our native tree found from coastal to mid-altitude; often
cultivated.

The tree is abundant along river Moyar of satyamangalam and Nilgiri north
forest divisions of TN.
