Yes Satish ji, I agree with you with regards to the finer differences in the
two flora. That is why I feel the final ID should be as per Kew database or
GRIN and IPNI in that order, other wise there is so much of contradictory data
floating around.

As I mentioned in my earlier mail I think your pics too are of C.
leschenaultii DC. The erect lemon bright yellow flowers being the main
characteristic leading to C.leschenaultii DC. I cannot see the tips of leaves
as clearly as in Aarti ji pics where the tips of the leaves are also seen
particularly in her second pic.

regards,

Rashida.

Thanks Rashida ji
It is very good to have study from different floras. Regarding several plants
there are some fine (?) differences between the two widely used floras namely
Almeida and BSI Mah.
Thanks for the typed description from Almeida's flora. He has describes the
species very elaborately. My species also appears to be C. leschenaultii DC
after reading your mail.
Similar is the case with Lagerstroemia microcarpa and parviflora. I have yet to
decide between the two as both these floras have diff.descriptions.

Hi Aarti ji, Tanay ji and Satish ji,

After going through the Dr. Almeida's Flora of Mah. Vol II for C. leschenaultii
DC and C. spectabilis Roth, I am now quite cetain that Aarti ji's posted pics
are of is C. leschenaultii DC. As mentioned yesterday I am attaching a line
drawing of C. spectabilis Roth, pics of C. leschenaultii DC and description of
both the species as in the above mentioned volume. Sory to exceed the
attachment size inthis case, Hope this helps.

regards,
Rashida.

Dear Satish ji & Rashida Ji,
This identification in confusing me a lot. how can one plant be treated as same
in some occasion and separate in other occasion ? I cant understand it... Do
you have the reason for it? Kindly provide it so that the matter is bit clear
to me. We both are right in our point of view but our refersence try to nullify
each others thoughts.
Regards
Tanay
