Thanks, Kanhaiya Lal ji. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary Date: 9 October 2017 at 21:04 Subject: Re: [efloraofindia:184290] Is it Cinnamomum aromaticum ? To: "J.M. Garg" <[email protected]>
Dear Garg ji, It does appear to be *Cinnamomum*. The various spp are very similar vegetatively. Whether C. *tamala *or *C. zeylanicum *can be determined easily by chewing the leaves (the un-taxonomical method!!). If the leaves taste like tezpatta it is *C. tamala*. However if it tastes like 'dalchini', it may be *C*. *zeylanicum *or even *C*. *bejholgota.* Regards On Sun, Oct 8, 2017 at 4:19 PM, J.M.
