Just a comment here: This common name, Scarlet Phoenician, picked up
by Isaac Kehimkar is probably not a very suitable one. The species
name phoenicea is in allusion to its purple-red color (after a dye
that came from Phoenicia). A more suitable common name is Midday
Flower or Noon Flower. Many Indian languages have names in allusion to
its characteristic of blooming at noon, e.g., Hindi: दुपहरिया
Dupahariya • Marathi: तांबरीदुपारी Tambridupari.
