Jr., l.c. 376.

Shrub, c. 1-1.5 m tall, young branches and leaves covered with setose hairs.
Leaves opposite, 3-10 x 1.5-5 cm, ovate to elliptic, acute entire, sparsely
hairy beneath with appressed hairs, petiole 2 mm long, stipules 5-6 mm long,
persistent, deltoid. Inflorescence trichotomous of corymbose cymes,
10-30-flowered, shortly pedunculate, peduncle 3-7 mm long; bracts leafy, c.
8-12 x 5 mm, coriaceous, densely appressed hairy. Flowers 2-3 x 1-2 cm,
bracteoles small, 4-5 mm long, pedicel 4-5 mm long. Calyx-lobes 6,
oblong-linear, hairy, obtuse, 4.5 mm long. Corolla scarlet, lobes 5, ovate,
obtuse, c. 4 mm long, mouth with a ring-like, orange, thickening of c. 4 mm
in diameter.
