Darwin called the plant *Hedysarum*; modern botanists call it either *Desmodium
gyrans*, or more correctly these days, *Codariocalyx motorius*. Its common
name is Dancing Grass or Telegraph Plant or Semaphore Plant -- after the
leaf movements, which resemble semaphore signals.
