Dear friends, I have been following the Lauraceae members especially Litsea and Cryptocarya for a long time. It is very difficult to differentiate most of the times. I have examined this and i feel it is* Litsea floribunda* Gamble. as suggested by Dr. Garg *Litsea wightiana* Hook is having some what smaller, obovate-Obtuse leaves with less number of veins. Obovate- oblong elliptic narrower leaf is only for the *L. wightiana* var *tomentosa* and that is an entirely different specimen. the length of the inflorescence of *Litsea wightiana* Hook is also smaller and less blooming when compared to *L. floribunda*. The nature of the lenticels also vary. I have come across variations within L. floribunda especially in the size of the leaves from lower elevation to higher, get reduced. But the more number of veins, length of the inflorescence, varying and larger size of the eaves strictly acute-acuminate leaf tip differentiate it from *Litsea wightiana* Hook
