Dear friends, Above posted plant is been identified as *Echinops sphaerocephalus* L. by Nitnem Singh ji, Surendra Singh ji and Gurcharan ji at facebook <https://www.facebook.com/groups/indianflora/?multi_permalinks=2795013973873257> . To me, it looks like Maharashtra flora does not have this species listed.
I went through eFI's *Echinops echinatus* page. While most of the images showed flower heads with spines projecting beyond flowers, those in following posts do not show so: 1. Narendra Joshi ji's post <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/indiantreepix/NyqzWB44qGY/k2uqUXdr7gMJ> - Satara 2. Prashant's post <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/indiantreepix/cQVvUVhGWWI/q6qNJpMu6W8J> - Raigad, Pune 3. Pravin Kawale ji's post <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/indiantreepix/Viz3vp5IliM/pCpb8OamlRAJ> - Rajgad,Pune 4. Alka Khare ji's post <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/indiantreepix/9wJhostgrrk/mVCFLGrVDQAJ> - Saputara Please validate the above posts for the species *echinatus* OR *sphaerocephalus*. I wish many validating comments are put here. Regards.
