According to gamble H.nigra would eassily confuse with ferruginea and some people treat them same species. Please note the key characters of H. nigra as follows. When you consider the leaf measurements you should get the leaves of mature trees here this picture is of a sapling it looks. And more importantly, for nigra the leaves are glabrous beneath. whereas, if it is hairy it can be H. grahamii. Further, H.nigra is an evergreen species found in the western slop of the Western Ghats (endemic to Southern WG) reaching a height of more than 30m with a straight trunk and a top crown (in Evergreen forest).
