Dear members We have noticed that some new members are reluctant to upload photographs for ID, primarily because they don't know the exact procedure. Although detailed guidelines are posted on the website and Garg ji has been circulating guidelines periodically, I am providing the same in as simple way as possible, for the benefit of new members.
1. Photographs of only one species in one mail. 2. Please collect a maximum of three photographs (three or less) of unknown plant, showing different aspects (twig with leaves & flowers, close up of flower, side view of flower/fruit, etc), resize reach photograph to 800 x 600 pixels (in photoshop click image->image size, locate width under pixel dimensions, write 800 in width (length would be automatically adjusted and click OK; similar procedure in other editors.) 3. Use the format as given below. Using word or any other text editor, provide as much information as you can in the right column. 4. Compose a new mail with address line "efloraofindia" < [email protected]>, 5. Subject line should have an ID consisting of date+month+year+your initials+your post number for the day. For example if I am sending two mails for one day for ID. For example if I am sending my second mail for ID today it would be 040610GS2. My subject line would be 040610GS2 tree from Delhi for ID 6. In body of the mail write one or two lines about the plant and paste the table with filled up format. 7. For plants which are already identified there is no fomat just write name of the species and place in subject line and as much information as you want to share in the body of the mail. There is no limit for the number of photographs for already identified plants Happy posting for members *Date/Time-* * * * * *Location- Place, Altitude, GPS-* * * * * *Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type-* * * * * *Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb- * * * * * *Height/Length-* * * * * *Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size-* * * * * *Inflorescence Type/ Size-* * * * * *Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts-* * * * * *Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds-* * * * * *Other Information like Fragrance, Pollinator, Uses etc.-* * * * * -- Dr. Gurcharan Singh Retired Associate Professor SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 Res: 932 Anand Kunj, Vikas Puri, New Delhi-110018.
