I'm not certain if it is A. elegans or A. grandiflora. That being said, A. elegans escaped cultivation and is considered to be an agricultural weed in Australia and in the Southern U.S. Also look for printed information using the synonym A. littoralis.
In the Himalyas it has the ability to displace the native A. acuminata and A. indica and A. manchuriensis. Certain butterflies depend on the native A. vines and the A. elegans has the ability to kill/poison the butterflies.
